My Baby

I barely remember him being this tiny.

Almost makes me miss it.... almost.

Breakfast is served...

...on the floor. So maybe I was wrong in thinking he'd just hold the bag, reach in, and get a bite. And no, I don't usually do breakfast this way. I thought it would be a nice treat for us to share some dry cereal and watch cartoons. (Mostly b/c I was so stinking tired- at 6am- and wanted to lay on the floor) Anyway, it did turn out to be a nice treat... for Dex (our dog).
Does the fact that they're multigrain Cheerios make up for it being eaten off the floor?

Menu Monday Makeup

I meant to post this Monday, but I didn't have the computer available that day. Then yesterday I went to my parents' house... the excuses could go on and on. Anyhoo, here is my menu for this week:

Monday- Pork Chops w/ Mango Salsa, Cilantro Lime Rice, Corn on the Cob
Tuesday- Coconut/ Panko Chicken Fingers, carrots, green beans
Wed- Dinner @ Church
Thursday- Cod, Roasted potatoes, salad
Friday- Grilled shrimp, grilled summer squash, egg noodles
Saturday- BBQ chicken, pasta salad
Sunday- Some type of crock pot chicken for lunch & brown bag dinner for life group fellowship

I've been researching the net looking for some new summer recipes. I love to cook & try new things. I get bored sometimes with the same old meals. If any of you (my three loyal followers) come across anything good, let me know!

Have a great Wednesday!

Huggies Jeans

Has everyone else already seen these? Diapers that look like jeans? Really? We got a mailout yesterday with some coupons & pictures of these & I have to say they are kind of creepy. They are the same size as a diaper, so it looks like the kid is wearing "hot pants". Are kids supposed to wear these as pants? I'm confused. I think we'll pass.
Friends, don't do this to your kids.

The Bachelorette

This is embarrassing, but I have to confess that I am a sucker for the Bachelor/ Bachelorette shows. I know! Ridiculous! Anyway, I just finished watching last night's show. I wrote down names and notes (I'm weird) when the guys were getting out of the limo.

First of all, let me just say I was NOT a fan of Ali on the Bachelor. I thought she was petty and caddy. That said, I still like to predict who'll she'll end up with.

Here are the names of guys I picked from the beginning:
Chris H (the first one out)
Casey (I think he's hearing impaired, and if not I'm sorry)
Roberto (spoke Spanish to her & salsa danced)
Jonathan (he's funny & I'm a sucker for a comedian, although he's a bit much)

I'm proud (well maybe not proud) to say all of my picks received roses and Roberto got the first impression rose.

These guys were ding-a-lings: Tyler (boots), Scrapbook Kirk, "Shooter", Hair Craig

I definitely think one of my top four will make it to end. We'll see.

Anyone else out there brave enough to admit you watch?

Steven's 30th Birthday Dinner

Today is my sweet hubby's 30th birthday! Hopefully I'll do a better job at taking pictures today than I did last night. We went to eat at Rio Mambo's with some friends from church. That place really does have the BEST quesadillas! We love going there and meeting friends makes it even better. I didn't get pictures of all the friends who joined us or the fun we afterwards at Main Event. We played shuffleboard, Boys vs. Girls, and it was so much fun! I have never played before, am not very good, but hope we get to go play again soon. Then we went to the arcade and watched Laura and Steven play Dance Dance Revolution Extreme. HILARIOUS!
Why didn't I have my camera?!

Anyway, here are some of our friends who joined us.
The Skippers
Huffmans

Martins

Thanks friends for helping Steven bring in the big 3-0!

This Week

Where did this week go? It's already Thursday and I feel like I've got nothing to show for this week. Each day we do one major "activity" and the rest of the day we stick around the house. Monday we went grocery shopping, that is considered a major activity now with the tot. Tuesday we met Jen and Havanna at the zoo. Wednesday we went to the park, got a pool from Walmart, and went to church. Today we went to the mall to make an exchange, had lunch, and played in the mall play place. Just living.

There was one shattered lens and two busted faces this week. The lens is from our nice new camera. Who knows what happened, but when Steven took the lens cap off glass shards just poured out. GREAT! One busted face is the one on Steven's watch. Will threw it on the floor. The other busted face is Will's. He face planted on the driveway. Busted lip, bloody mouth- today he has scabs on his chin, lip, and nose. Nice.

Tonight I'm cooking dinner, Steven is playing basketball, and I'm packing up Will's overnight bag. Tomorrow he's going to spend the night with my Mom and Dad so Steven and I can celebrate his birthday. Saturday Steven is turning 30! Old man!

Anyway, here are a couple pics from this week. I don't have many since the camera is broken.
Before we got the pool I let Will play with the hose and a big bowl of water. It was really hot that day and he loves splashing in water.
Will and Havanna ready to go to the zoo!
So I know this is very inappropriate, but I didn't know turtles did this.
The zoo is very educational.
Also, there were monks there! I was a little too excited about seeing them. You just don't see that everyday.
Will is eating his first watermelon. He really liked it. He has a fat lip in this pic, but you can't really tell. It looks much worse today.
First watermelon of the summer!

Road Trip, Baseball, & Trailer Fun

So yesterday morning we made a quick trip to Belton. Steven's parents' house has been undergoing renovations so we haven't been able to make it down in awhile. On Friday we just hung out around the house. They got a crib in the guest room now and I am happy to say that will slept pretty well! Usually we have a rough time figuring out how to get him to sleep, but we actually caught some z's last night.

Today we went to Kyler and Brandon's baseball game. Will was really interested for a little while and watched everything going on in the game. But then he snapped out of it and wanted down to go play. We sure hope he's a big fan of baseball when he gets older!

We got Will a new hat and as long as it's backwards he'll keep it on. Such a funny little guy. And super cute too if I don't say so myself.

We spent some time playing in one of Pa's trailers. And by some time I mean a LONG time. He loves walking in trailers and in the back of pickups. Oh I love that chubby belly.

Just like Daddy

Will played piano with Daddy too on Friday night. Well he didn't really want his Daddy to play and kept pushing his hands off.

We had a great trip and can't wait to see Mimi and Pa again soon!

"Yeah"

This is my new favorite thing about Will. He has started saying "yeah" all the time. Anytime you ask him a question he says, "Yeah". When he wants something he reaches for it and says "yeah" while nodding his head. Sometimes it's more pronounced than others and sometimes it's more of a "yuh". But I think it is so dang cute!

The only bad thing is that he isn't signing please anymore, he just says "yeah". I'm having to re-teach him please, but I didn't worry about it in this video. He's crying b/c I asked him if he wanted at cookie and when he said "yeah" I decided to go get my camera and he got upset b/c I walked away without giving him the cookie.

Also notice what a catastrophe my house is. We moved the love seat, end tables, and just pretty much let the boy play and destroy. Trust me, his walking is doing great, but we have far fewer accidents when there are wide open spaces!

Video & Menu

I'm posting a video here too just so this post won't be so boring. Anyway, we have never made or stuck to a weekly menu in the Lentz house. I just buy a bunch of groceries and then figure it out day by day. It doesn't seem like it would work well, but for us it has. Until recently b/c we are really needing to stick tighter to a grocery budget and only buy exactly what we need. Our meals usually consist of a meat, veggies, and some type of grain or starch. I don't make many casseroles- maybe three times a year! For one, I don't have many recipes for those. Second, most seem to not be very healthy. Third, sometimes they cost more to buy all the cheese, canned soup, etc.

So last week I decided to make a menu. We did really well at sticking to it and it was nice to know what we'd be having each night. I bought the groceries at the beginning of the week and only needed to make one more trip out to get something during the week.

Last week's menu:
Sunday: Lunch- crockpot chicken Dinner- Senior Dinner at Church
Monday: L- leftovers D- Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas
Tuesday: L- leftovers D- Chicken Salad
Wednesday: L- leftovers D- Pappasitos for Mom & Dad's anniversary
Thursday: L- leftovers D- Chipotle style burritos
Friday: L-leftovers D - dinner at Weltzin's

This week's menu:
Sunday: Mother's Day meal
Monday: L- sandwiches D- BBQ chicken, noodles, broccoli
Tuesday: L- sandwiches D- Chipotle Burritos & cilantro lime rice (we loved them so much!)
Wednesday: L- leftovers D- Church meal
Thursday: L- English Muffin Pizzas D- Chicken Fingers, Corn, Roasted Potatoes
Friday: Trip to Belton

This video was taken a couple of weeks ago, the day after his birthday party. I got him this Word Whammer for this bday and they mostly end up on the floor. He was still so wobbly walking and is doing great now! His cute T-shirt was a gift from his Uncle Jason and Aunt Jo.

Warning about Pampers Dry Max

This is a personal, Lentz family, testimony. Now it may just be coincidence, but we started using the new Pampers Dry Max diapers and Will got the most horrible diaper rash. He hasn't had diaper rash since we brought him home from the hospital! It's everywhere, puffy, red and so painful he screams. Poor baby, I know it must burn. Anyway, I know there are a lot of stories in the news about moms claiming these diapers caused a chemical type burn on their babies.

We aren't using them anymore just in case.

I love that little butt too much.

Deck Project: Phase Two Complete

About three weeks ago Steven decided to finally start the deck renovations. I'm calling this phase two. The deck originally was twice as large and took up almost all of our backyard, it included a hot tub too. A few months ago we (not we literally- Steven) got the hot tub out and tore out one half of the deck. That was phase one. Anyway, he replaced many of the boards and put up a rail so our toddler wouldn't toddle off the edge. It took him about a week and I think it looks great. Phase three will be staining and sealing.

Good job sweetheart!

Things that make you go- WHAT?!

So I'm watching 18 Kids and Counting, the story about the Duggar family who have 18 kids. (Yes, that means the Lentz's have Cable now!) Anyway, two things I just saw made me say, "NO WAY"!

1. As they rode through the parade, the mom stood on the float wearing her nursing cover & nursing her littlest baby! ON A FLOAT! I could barely do it in the living room at my parents' house, much less in a parade - on national t.v.

2. A little word bubble popped up with a 'fun fact': Michelle Duggar has spent approximately 25 years of her life nursing children. Insane!

Anyway, just thought I'd share.

It's a girl!

Were you thinking I meant for me? Oh praise the Lord it's not me! (Not that I don't love my son, but I'm not at all ready to do that again!)

Anyway, my best friend April had her sweet baby girl 3 weeks ago and I'm just now posting about it b/c I just now got the pictures downloaded. She is precious and healthy and we love her already. Her name is
Avery Elise White

So tiny, just a day old and I think she's trying to smile at her Aunt Kristie.

I can't wait until I can see April and Avery again.
Congratulations Whites!

They have started a blog now, you can keep up with sweet Avery here.

Signature test

Just checking to see if adding my signature worked. It did. obviously
