Playing Catch Up

We are just too busy for our own good.  I'll do my best to recap as quickly as possible- mostly for my sake.  I have lost the motivation to blog.  Basically the only thing I want to do is clean and nap.  I guess that's the "nesting" kicking in.  I have been feeling extremely overwhelmed with all that needs to be done before our sweet boy gets here.  I asked my mom to come over this weekend and please help.  I am feeling a bit better about things, but still have a few tasks on my list that need to be checked off before I feel at ease.

To start...  I am officially 37 weeks!  (Well, as of tomorrow)  We had our 36 week appt last Tuesday and final sonogram.  Praise the Lord, everything still looks great- heart, kidneys, etc.  We got to see him yawn and open his eyes.  He measured right at 7 lbs already!  Also, my doctor did the Strep B test and checked to see if I was dilated.  Let me tell you that I about jumped off the table for both!  Ouch!  Good news though- she said I was dilated to 2cm!  I can't believe it.  I thought for sure that I'd be a zero or something, but am very encouraged.  Now I know that I may stay at 2 for 3 more weeks, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for things to start happening.  Dr. Alexis said that Will could come any day now!  I'm sure that's where my anxiousness to get things done is coming from.  She also said that if it's looking like he's getting close to 9lbs, she may consider inducing at 39 weeks.  Anyway, our next appt is this Tuesday and we'll find out if anything else has happened.
My 36 week pic! I am huge and so is my double chin.  You have no idea how many times I get asked, "You sure there's just one baby in there?"
The hostesses from my church/ friend shower.  It was perfect!  Seeing some of my most dear friends was the best part.  Some of my church friends and college friends hosted together.  I'll have to blog about the shower another time.
The flowers from my school shower.  To0 gorgeous not to post.
We packed our hospital bag last night!!!  Very exciting!
Will's diaper bag packed and ready to go!  I'm just missing a coming home outfit.  I just don't know what to put him in.  Mostly I want him to be comfy, poor little guy's never had to wear clothes before ya know?
I packed this cute sleeper so far for him.  It's for 0-7lb. babies and since he's already almost exceeding that, I figured in the hospital may be the only time he gets to wear it.
Our stroller & carrier!  Steven has had a lot of fun figuring out all of the "tricks" it can do.  He'll get it installed in the car this week and go have it checked out at the fire station.  That way we will be able to bring that boy home!
Crib with new bedding.  Shad's mom, Cindy, made the bumper and crib skirt.  They turned out perfect.  You can't see the bottom of the skirt, but it has a stripe that matches the bumper.
Little bookshelf already filling up with toys and books.
Changing table stocked and ready to clean that little hiney!
I asked my school nurse to make the window panels for us.  The fabric on top matches the bedding.  I think they turned out great!  I love all the natural sunlight that comes into room too!
We ordered a decal for the wall behind the crib.  We love how this turned out as well.
Things are starting to all fall into place.  We reorganized the linen closet to make room for the little towels, sheets, and wash cloths.  I have washed most of his clothes, bedding, blankets, etc. and decided where (I think) I want it all to go.  I still need to rearrange the kitchen cabinets to make some space for baby things.  Steven is working on getting his last paper done so there is nothing hanging over his head if this little boy decides to make an appearance soon.

I'll try to be better about posting in the near future.. especially if exciting things start to happen!

Spring Break!

Yesterday was the first day of my Spring Break!  Let me tell you that this break is much needed.  Last week was the end of the six weeks and Open House (teachers reading this understand how much extra work and time that means).  Anyway, it was a wonderful day.  Steven is taking the whole week off too so we can spend some good quality time together before our little gift arrives. I can't tell you the last time I just woke up by myself without an alarm.  Even on Saturdays we usually have something we have to get up and get ready for.  Of course I'm still an early riser, but 7:30 is sleeping late when you're used to 5:30.  I know all sleep will soon be greatly disturbed, so I'm soaking in every last minute.

As of yesterday, I am 33 weeks!  Very exciting, only 7ish more weeks to go.  I say "ish" b/c I know these things don't normally happen when they are supposed to.  My official last day of work will be May 1st.  My official due date is May 5th. That means when I go back on Monday, I only have 29 more work days!  Between now and then I have A LOT to do to get everything organized, planned, copied, and prepared for that last 6 weeks of school.

I'll post new pics soon of my belly, my chunky cheeks, and the updates to Will's room.  It's nearly finished, but I still don't think it's all truly hit me.  I guess it won't until we get him home.

Oh- Steven and I are leaving today for our big pre-baby vacation!  Being 8+ months pregnant, we can't really go far, so we are heading out to the big city of Fort Worth!  I don't know which hotel we're staying in - it's a surprise.... but he keeps telling me it's a one and a half star.  I'll let you know.

Thief

I stole a cantaloupe today.  Kind of on accident, kind of not.  The accident was that I didn't pay for it and walked out.  The kind of not part is that I noticed while leaving the store and decided to still leave anyway.  It was lunch time and I was getting that shaky, hot, need to sit down right now or I'm going down feeling.  So I left and decided I'd pay for it the next time I go back.  What's horrible is that I don't feel a bit bad about it.  They'll get their $1.00 when I go back for my frozen entrees.

Valentine's Day Recap

We had a wonderful Valentine's Day this year!  Steven and I scheduled a 4D ultrasound at a place in Arlington and our families joined us.  Steven's parents came up on Friday night and my parents & grandma met us there on Saturday.  There was a place for everyone to sit in the little room and the picture was projected up onto the wall.  It was amazing to see his face and how much he's changed since we saw it last in December.  It was also frustrating because he would not move his hand away from his face and then at times had his foot in front of his face too!  What a little stinker!  The tech was poking and pushing on my tummy, but he wouldn't move that hand for anything.  She was able to move the "wand" around to different places and got a few shots of his face though.  We have a 15 minute video too, showing him both smiling and yawning.  So precious!  Here are a few pics from the day:
What topped it all off was that afterwards we ate lunch at Abuelo's!  My favorite!

We just love that little guy so much already!  I know we will be blown away at how much that love will intensify once we have him in our arms.  We are also excited about what he's going to teach us and help us about love as well.  11 more weeks!

7 Months Today!

I am 7 months pregnant today!  It's hard to believe- not that it came so fast, just that I can't believe I'm finally in my third trimester.  It seems like it's been forever already and I still have 3 months left.

This week our little boy should be a little over 2 pounds and about 15 inches long.  According to one website, that's the length of an amusement
park churro! (mmm... churros are so good)  His little eyes should be blinking this week and he should be getting a little chubbier.  I hope those thighs are fat, I just love fat baby thighs.

We have an appointment tomorrow.  We will hear the heartbeat, find out the results of my glucose test, and find out how much more weight I've gained.  Oh brother... not looking forward to that.  As of the last appointment, I had gained 17 pounds.  I should gain about 12 more in the last trimester too- at least 12 anyway.  :)

I'm going to highlight my hair tonight.  I tried to go without it, but just can't take it anymore.  It looks terrible.  If we go to Shad and Haley's tonight, I'll have Haley pull it through the cap.  Otherwise Steven will be getting a lesson in highlighting.

Also, we got some good news today.  Our insurance company came back to look at our roof and instead of just giving us money for half of it, they totaled the whole thing.  Now I guess we won't have to shell out any money for it.  Thank you Lord!

AND.... we just sent in our tax return- we may actually get back a buck or two this year!  Woo hoo!  This is the year we'll need it to,  apparently babies are expensive or something. ;)

Daddy Tips

Someone emailed me this awhile back, thinking it was vital that I share these tips with my husband.  I've already gone over them with him, the sad thing is there are a couple I don't think he saw anything wrong with.

Where to begin...

It's been too long since I've updated and now there's too much and it's too overwhelming.  So here's the rundown... as quick and brief as I can make it.

I am 27 weeks and 4 days pregnant today.  That only leaves 12.5 weeks to go!  It still seems like  a lot of time and I'm sure it's going to just crawl by.  On Monday, I will officially enter the third trimester.  I'll update again with the latest baby stats.

I have been feeling great.  A couple of weeks ago, we had a scare.  I went in for my regular appt and noticed that I was spotting.  Of course I freaked and was crying my eyes out. There is no worse sight or feeling .  They did a sono and said the baby looks fine and that I am overdoing it, on my feet too much, and probably under too much stress at work.  I took the next day off and since then have really been trying to take it easy.  No more problems, things seem to still be going good.  Praise God for our healthy boy!

We have a 4D sono scheduled for Feb. 14th.  I just can't wait to see that little face!  I hope he'll really be moving, kicking, and punching in there.  I'm so excited b/c we'll get to bring a video home.  Something I'm sure will be viewed nightly at our house!

Steven had a crazy migraine this weekend and we missed the Super Bowl!  His hand and tongue went numb, his speech was not coherent, and then he threw up all afternoon.  Not fun at all.  Poor guy.

We have not made any more updates to the nursery yet.  A few things are in the mail, on their way here.  We will go Saturday - after my gestational diabetes test- to look at fabric.  I'm not really in a hurry, but I guess I should get on the ball b/c everyone keeps telling me that these last weeks just fly by!  Of course, lots of people keep telling me that these last weeks just drag on and on... I guess we'll see.  I hope they whiz by!

Last of all, for anyone traveling through Burleson on Wilshire- do NOT by any means stop at the Popeye's chicken there next to Pizza Hut.  No chicken.  One pack of ketchup in the entire restaurant.  No clean tables.  Floor covered in food.  Trash cans dripping with ketchup.  Filthy restrooms.  We should have left.  I'm getting the heebie jeebies just thinking about it.

Hopefully I'll post again next week with pictures of the growing cannon ball!
